do I have a collector revolver ????

I have a new smith wesson 686 and the SKU # Model # on box is different from what I purchased... I called S&W to see if I was reading it correctly.

The seral # on box match my revolver, however the other numbers call for a 6 round cylinder and I have a 7.....

Make sure you don't have 7 holes cut into a 6-shot cylinder. Another forum user (Japle I believe) bought one of those and it would have been potentially dangerous to fire since one or more of the cylinder bore holes had dangerously thin walls, especially for a .357 mag. S&W replaced the cylinder free of charge.

^^^ That's the first thing I thought of too.

My 686 Pro has a "feature"!!

Wow - good memory...
I'd forgotten about that.
I don't recall who it was that happened to.
W/luck, whoever it was will chime in.

Actually, now that I see the picture again (thanks Sport45), Japle's revolver had 6 holes cut into a 7-shot cylinder. Same issue with the wall thickness.

No, it doesn't make it a "collectable"...maybe a novely or a point of discussion over coffee...or whatever....but no big deal in my view.
