DNZ scope mounts. Which ones?

I have a TC encore pro hunter .35 whelen with a Nikon buckmasters 6-18X40mmSF scope. Which DNZ scope mounts would fit this setup? Any comments will be greatly appreciated :D

That scope has an objective bell OD of 49.3mm, or 1.94". The bore center-line (scope tube) of the "low" DNZ scope mount is 1" to the bottom (resting surface) of the mount base.
With a "low" mount, you'd have a minimum of .030" clearance between objective bell OD... plus what ever the value of the barrel step is.

1.940" bell diameter divided by 2 (centerline) is .970"
1.000" total clearance available from the mount, minus .970" is .030"
.030" plus ? added clearance for barrel step is .030" plus.

If you are going to use scope covers of any significant thickness, the clearance for this will be the .030" plus barrel step difference. If you're paranoid about clearance, get the "medium" ring mount... which has an additional .125" of rise.

Cheers,
C

DNZ makes good stuff. I have used them in the past and they are generally my 2nd choice. On bolt rifles I prefer the 2 piece Talley Lightweights because they leave the top of the receiver open for easier loading/unloading. This wouldn't be an issue on the Ecnore.

With most scopes, and most rifles you can use low's with a 40mm objective. In rare cases where you have a thicker than normal barrel or some other odd issue you may have to move up to mediums. Stock shape could be a factor to consider. While the lows may leave plenty of room for the scope to clear, they may be too low for your eye to line up with the scope naturally because of the stock design.
