Dissapointing day at the range

Hello. I took some guns to the range Saturday. First I attempted to sight in my 20ga Mossy scoped 500 slug gun with rifled barrel. Couldnt seem to dial in to be a couple inches hi at 50yds. Using remington copper solids slugs, I would be in the kill zone but not very close groups like I thought I could get.

Then shot my Stoeger 2000 with rifled slugs @ 50yds. Couldnt hit a paper plate. Was shooting Winchester slugs. I know a different brand of slugs could make a difference so I'll try another brand. BTW, that kicked like a mule on steroids.

Then tried patterning my Beretta 390 and my 2000 with new choke tubes specifically for Black cloud. A Carlsons tube and a Patternmaster. Less than stellar results When patterning a shotgun, do you point at the center of the circle or at the bottom of the circle. So Im rethinking some things and was wondering if anyone had some insight as to why this was such a dissapointing shoot.

might try some different brands of slugs or try the rifled slugs through the rifled barrel.
I always put the bead on the center of target

The problem I have always had with sighting in slugs is the recoil is so bad I start flinching after 10 or so rounds.

Better to take a break and try again another day.
