Disposable Rifle Report: Remington 710
Last Saturday, I picked up a Remington 710 .30-06 w/a chinese bushnell 3X-9X. For $318.00 plus tax, I could not resist. I took it home did a cursory cleaning and cycled the horrendous bolt which was rougher than a cobb.
I took the beast out to the range at lunch one day this week. The bolt loosened up nicely after twenty rounds of 150 grain Remington PSP. The trigger from the get/go was as crisp as the january morning air. One big hole describes the accuracy at 25 yards. Even when the thing was out of zero, the groups touched each other.
Though the bolt is not the smoothest in the world, the accuracy is excellent. For $318.00,the 710 is a great beginner's package or rainy day hunting gun. The trigger on mine is as good as any stock 700. If the thing holds together, it will go down as a good buy for the money.
