Discontinued Colt Light Rifle

BMWGS80

One of our distributers Just found five Colt Light Rifles they forgot they had. I'm thinking of buying one. Our gunsmith ahs given them an OK for design. Has anyone here shot one? I am thinking of buying one because of thier rarity. The stock fits me real well and I like that they left the barrel a standard length.

I have also been trying to get the numbers of how many were produced and how many of each caliber.

If I get some good feedback I might even get two. I have a project in mind to build a modern version of the Classic Kentucky rifle (full stock) just for S&G. The trim action and long barrel would be ideal for this.

btw: The rifles that are left are all 30-06. Not the ones that were recalled.

All info appreciated.

Cheers,

ts

There is a reason they are discontinued. They were/are a POS.

Last week my buddy bought one----he disassembled it for cleaning---a piece of tape came out of one of the screw holes, because it was stripped.

The rifle came supplied with scope mounts------using a Zeiss 3x9x36 scope----the bolt handle wouldn't clear the scope.----Good luck trying to find any other mounts to fit that rifle.

The rifle was advertised weighing in at 5 3/4's lbs or there abouts--we weighed the rifle---the rifle was bare no scope--mounts-etc-----it came in at 6 lbs 9 oz-----so much for a light rifle.

The dealer where he bought it at has a 30 day return policy-----the rifle was back to them in 2 hours. At least it was an inexpensive lesson---because he got all his money back. He spent over $500 on this piece of crap----with quality like that, Colt deserves to go out of business.
