Actual Warnings

In case you needed further proof that the human race is doomed through stupidity, here are some actual label instructions on consumer goods.

1. On Sears's hairdryer: "Do not use while sleeping". (Gee, that's the only time I work on my hair)

2. On a bag of Fritos: "You could be winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside". (Evidently, the shoplifter special)

3. On a bar of Dial soap:"Directions: Use like regular soap." (And that would be how...?)

4. On some Swanson frozen dinners: "Serving suggestions: Defrost." (But it's *just* a suggestion)

5. On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom of box): "Do not turn upside down". (Oops, too late!)

6. On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding: "Product will be hot after heating". (As night follows the day.)

7. On packaging for a Rowenta iron: "Do not iron clothes on body". (But wouldn't this save even more time?)

8. On Boot's Children's Cough Medicine: "Do not drive a car or operate machinery after taking this medication". (We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we could just get those 5y/o's with head-colds off those forklifts.)

9. On Nytol Sleep Aid: "Warning: May cause drowsiness". (One would hope)

10. On most brands of Christmas lights: "For indoor or outdoor use only". (As opposed to what?)

11. On a Japanese food processor: "Not to be used for the other use". (I gotta admit, I'm curious).

12. On Sainsbury's peanuts: "Warning: Contains nuts". (NEWS FLASH)

13. On an American Airlines packet of nuts: "Instructions: Open packet, eat nuts." (Step 3: Fly Delta).

14. On a child's Superman costume: Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly". (I don't blame the company I blame parents for this one).

15. On a Swedish chain saw: "Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or xxxxxxx". (Was there a chance of this happening somewhere?...Good grief)

16. On a bottle of Palmolive Dishwashing liquid: "Do not use on food" (Hey mom we're out of syrup! It's ok honey just grab the Palmolive!)

17. On a tube of Crest Toothpaste: "If swallowed contact poison control." (Oh please have you ever heard about someone dying from swallowing toothpaste?)

18. On a bottle of ALL laundry detergent: "Remove clothing before distributing in washing machine." (Hey no more swimming in the washing machine kids...Aww you mean we have to use the swimming pool?)

As hard as it is to believe I’ve heard the same thing. Back in the eighties sunlight dish detergent was new. They sent sample packs of their product to thousands of homes. The packet, about twice the size of a ketchup packet said “Dishwashing Detergent-not for consumption”.
None the less some folks tried to sue. Seems the packet had a picture of a lemon on it. Nummy, Nummy LEMON-AID!

Scary isn’t it.

Actually, if the toothpaste contains sodium flouride, it may be quite poisonous if large quantities are swallowed. Back in they day, they used the same stuff to kill rats :)

I guess it's pointing out the obvious that these warnings are the result of a society where those who know enough not to wear a hair dryer while sleeping are paying higher insurance rates because of the stupidity (?) of those who don't.

Too many greedy plaintiff's lawyers. :puke:

I still think the most frightening is the Hair curler one of my exgirlfirends had. On the side was a label saying. "Not for internal use, External use only"
Now I have to ask. WHO THE HELL WOULD DO THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean I am a guy and I shiver at the thought of what some woman must have tried to do.

Actually you can iron your shirt while wearing it. It doesn't really hurt, in fact it just gets really warm. And it makes you look tough to people who don't know any better. :D

Oooookay....Cold shower time, guys! :D

My favorite is the Japanese food processor. I just love trying to read and follow instructions to an Asian made item, it's usually pretty funny! :)

ROTFLMBO!! my eyes are watering! :D

Re: the warning on tooth paste;

Many toothpastes contain Sodium Flouride which is quite poisonous in quantities not too much more than used for brushing teeth.
A kid could decide he likes the taste and swallow quite a bit and end up very ill or dead.

How about eliminating 'safety labels' for a year or so.
The herd needs thinning again... ;)

...defend the 2nd., it protects us all.
No fate but what we make...

IIRC, there was the label on a hair dryer that said something like, "Do not use in the shower or bath." As far as I am concerned, if someone did they learned a good lesson and made a big batch of soup.
