disassembly of S&W 422

I got a S&W model 422 .22 target pistol used a few weeks ago. I e-mailed S&W for a manual but hadn't recieved it yet. I was going to wait to shoot it till I could figure out how to take it apart but didn't. Could anyone tell me how it comes apart? There is a slide thing on the top of the gun, I think it has something to do with it but so far I can't get it to slide. I haven't tried to force it though.

When you but these guns new, they come with a plastic "T" shaped device that is used to aid in disassembly. If you have that, then:
1. Make sure the gun is unloaded.
2. Pull the slide back and insert the spacer between the slide and the frame, making sure it presses against the recoil guide rod. If a spacer is not available, then you can use a spent .22LR case. Make sure it is a fired case and not a live round.
3. Close the slide. What you want to do is press the spacer against the recoil guide, causing the plug on the top to pop up.
4. Remove the plug.
5. Pull the slide to the rear, remove the guide rod and spring from the front of the slide and then remove the slide.

You can use a spent 22LR casing in place of the plastic T thingy. (as stated above).

Essentially, you have to push the spring guide into the slide far enough so that you can remove the guide retainer.
