Dirt cheap Model 10's

Here is a S&W Model 10-6 that I picked up for my son. He is going on ten years old and it is about time to step him up from the .22 Colt Frontier Scout he has been shooting.

This was a security service trade in. It has some minor imperfections but other than the usual surface dings it is mostly in unfired condition. The cylinder gap and endshake is tighter than some of the new S&W's I have looked at lately.

Best of all it was only $135.00.

:D

My local Police supply, Arrington's had them on a security company trade in deal. When it started they had Model 10's, Model 12's and a couple of Model 19's. All of them were priced at $135.00!
I was short on money (as always) and had to pass on the deal until this week. In less than 10 days the supply went down to a couple of blued Model 10's with a LOT of holster wear and the revolver pictured above. It was still there because the guard that carried it had ground the single action notch off of the hammer. I just replaced the hammer with one from the parts bin at a local gunsmith shop and polished up the inner surfaces and PRESTO.

Nickle plated Model 10-6 with the slickest action you ever felt.

DIRT CHEAP

Time to start loading some wad cutters and take the boy to the shooting range.

Very nice deal. Perfect for what you have in mind. I am sure your son will love it.

I recently got a new Model 10 myself. My local dealer got one from a customer who's husband died or something. He paid next to nothing for it. It was rusted and looked terrible. Another friend was playing around with his home gunsmithing skills and polished it all out to the point that it was very clean. He did a nice job. However, the he couldn't contact the guy with the bluing tanks, so he applied one of those spray on finishes from Brownells. This gun looked like heck. It was kind of a sand color. So, I was in the gunstore and the owner mentioned that he was sending several guns to his 'smith to have them blued. I asked him to sell (actually work it into another deal we were working on) me that old boat anchor and put it in with the other ones to be blued. It came back very nice. It looks great. I don't know exactly what I paid for it. But, I couldn't let a good Smith sit there looking like it did. I mainly wanted it because I owned two other Model 10s, but both had the heavy barrel, this one was the skinny barrel. I didn't want one bad enough to pay any real money for one. I am real happy with it. It isn't the crown jewel of my S&W collection, but it is a fun shooter.
