dinged muzzle on shotgun

I got two single shot NEF shotguns in today, and they have dings on the muzzles, presumably from shipping.

One one gun the dings seem to be on the outside of the barrel only. The other gun has a ding about 3/16" wide that protrudes .005" into the bore.

How badly does a dinged muzzle hurt the performance of a shotgun? And if it will affect performance significantly, is it worth it to get it fixed?

If you know someone that has a lathe with a spindle bore big enough to slide the barrel through cleaning it up is easy. Takes a few minutes with a 3 jaw chuck and a little cold blue. On the other hand it probably won`t matter if your just shooting shot loads out of it. You can pattern it to find out. Good luck.

They need to be fixed if the ding protrudes into the bore. If the ding is on the muzzle itself, you may be able to tap a tapered rod (marlin spike) into the muzzle to iron it out.
