Dinged cases on factory ammo, American Eagle .223

Took my freshly assembled AR to the range last Saturday (the gun ran great!) and put a few boxes of ammo through it, sighting in the EOTech 517.
Most of the ammo was Federal XM193F. I also had a box of American Eagle Tactical AE223, 55gr FMJ (Black Box). When I opened the box, I was surprised to see that every single case had a ding in it, just down from the shoulder. See attached pic (the dent on the right hand case is in the highlight, so you can't see it in the pic)
Anyone have any thoughts on why they are dinged and whether or not that would effect the safety of using this ammo?

I’ve seen cases like that before.

However, when fired, something magic happens. Those little dents somehow or another disappear themselves. It’s almost like Tinker Bell sprinkled some Fairy Dust on them. It's magic, and I can’t fuggur it out.

I sprinkle the fairy dust on the inside, only I refer to it as Varget:D. Pops 'em right back out.
Seriously though, I have reloaded many cases with worse dings than the one shown in the picture. I may question any that are dinged near the web.

Yep I got a mini14, and due to a snafu or two on my part, I've fired cases with way, way more bigger worser dents in them LOL. A couple I cringed as I squeezed the trigger, but all was good, and they even came out looking like the rest of the normal cases, LOL.

But, I can't tell you to do that....LOL. I took an oath.

Its typical. I ran out of my own hand loads while shooting and ran to Fleet Farm for ammo. Picked up a few hundred rounds of Federal American Eagle .223 FMJ in 100rd packs for $30.99+tax per box.

I'd say at least one out of every two cartridges had a ding in it right out of the cartridge. It didn't affect performance much at all although I opted NOT to reload the dinged cases and just disposed of them.

Maybe. The only people who would really know are the ones who work at the factory.

In any case I found them safe to shoot but as I said before I wouldn't consider them reloadable. Damaged brass is damaged brass.

@Hansam... I'd say at least one out of every two cartridges had a ding in it
That's about half of them right? Ha ha sorry I couldn't resist that.

sir_n0thing, I have shot 5.56 in much worse shape than that in my Howa .223. (.............. waits for 5.56 versus .223 barrage of argument).

If the QC is not great then it's worth looking for other issues, like creases in the necks or rounds set too deep... which are the things that will make a difference. It doesn't hurt to examine every round you put in a mag or in your gun.

Looks like reloaded brass. Lots of rifles put a dent right about the same place when the casing is ejected.

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping that shooting these would "fire form" the dents out. Never hurts to ask though... better safe than sorry and all that jazz.
Out of who knows how many thousands of rounds of various ammo I've bought over the years, I've never seen an entire box with every case dented. This is my first box of this brand though.
When I was close to finishing my AR build I went out and bought a few boxes of several different brands to try out, see what my gun liked best until I get the dies to start rolling my own.
Let the pixie dust magic begin.
;)

I'd say thats a dent caused from the mfg process & handling. Shake the live round & if you hear the powder moving in the case, shoot it! The only thing that would concern me would be a compressed load.
