Dillon powder measure cleaning.

I have a Dillon 550b that I have had for years. The hopper on the powder measure is on its way to becoming opaque from leaving powder in it. Has anyone found a way to return it to more clear? Don't suggest a powder sensor (about $50), inasmuch as I want to get suggestions from people who have "fixed"/improved theirs before I go the sensor (or new hopper) route. If it can not be done, of course I will have to go to the alternatives.

I have put the Powder Hopper in the dish washer and it helps a lot .
I did buy a new hopper and it dose not stain or has not yet ?

I have a new (less than a year old) Dillion 550B and the powder hopper is as new .

Here goes a wild azz guess---

Get one of the headlight refinishing kits---jury-rig a buffing lap that fits the barrel of the Dillon powder reservoir- follow directions using the multiple compounds in the kit that buff out the oxidation that discolors the plastics.

If it works-post up what you did for others to use.

If you're not looking for perfection and just want the hopper clear enough to see into, try some Soft Scrub sink and tub cleaner.
Works decently on plastics, too.
But go easy and don't scrub too hard.

A lot of the "clouding" is actually residue from powder & powder coatings.

If its the screwed in not the glued in type then a "J-Cloth" dampened (not sopping wet) with a little dish detergent worked well for me.
Failing that call Dillon, they'll replace them.:)

Not to put too fine a point on this,
How about emptying the powder hopper when not loading?

Dillon will replace for free.

Static cling was my issue.
I used an anti-static bag that computer parts came in to line the hopper, also protects the plastic and you can see though it.

Cut to fit, scotch taped in, works pretty good and the powder comes out of the hopper pretty well.
I hear anti-static sprays work too.

Gosh, I will just jump right into my time machine and do just that. During the Summer when I shoot nearly everyday, it would be inconvenient to unscrew the collar and empty the hopper every time I use it.

And a lot if it is not...cloudiness is from the etching and chemical reaction with the powder. Re: Skeeter Skelton's "Cow Killer Loads", Shooting Times article from years ago.

Not interested. That is why I posted, "... I want to get suggestions from people who have "fixed"/improved theirs...". I am more interested in what people have already found to work than any experimenting (beyond what I have already attempted), than random suggestions of what "may" work or not. When I make an original post, I try my best to be specific.
