Difficulty Applying Lube

The Rattler

I am relatively new to cleaning & maintaining shotguns. At the risk of asking a question about something super fundamental, I would rather ask & learn than not to ask at all.

After reading posts & watching YouTube videos about oil vs lube, I decided to start using lube at certain locations on my 2 auto loaders, side by side L C Smith, and old single shot. I bought a tube of Birchwood Casey Choke Tube Lube & a syringe of TW25B NRA Gun System gun grease.

I used them about 5 - 7 times. Now, however, it is almost impossible to get any Choke Tube Lube out of the tube & only after applying a lot of pressure on the syringe numerous times did any of the regular gun grease come out. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong or just not holding my mouth right? Is there something I can do to improve the flow of lube, such as holding the tube & syringe under hot water?

One advantage of this is that it certainly discourages over - greasing.

Any ideas will be appreciated.
