difference between pre ban maadi and new

May be i am ignorant but how can you tell the difference between pre ban maadi ak47 and new misr with pistol grip. i have seen pictures and they look almost identical.
 
The newer ones have a lot of US parts on/in them to comply with Sec922r. These parts vary in quality from very good to highly questionable. I believe that some are built using Maadi parts on a US Hesse receiver.
 
Destructo6 is correct. The thing to watch with the US/Maadi is the front sites. Some are hopelessly canted. Also some models will take hi-caps and some will only take 10 rd. klintonistas. Also, the furniture is horrendous and the metal finish has this thick black paint on it that will flake off with ease. This being said, I had the MISR 90 and it was a terrific little AK, not one failure thru app. 5000rds.
The preban Maadis were among the best AK's made. Hope this helps you a bit.
 
FTR 1989 is the ban year for imported semi-autos. Some folks will slap pre-ban on anything. I've seen 10rd AKs labeled as pre-ban at gunshows.

thank you very much for replying me back. Hopefully i will look carefully. its just that someone is claiming to sell me a preban used maadi for 499 (hard to believe); however the new maadis kind of looks the same.
