Difference between cap sizes

I have a lot of CCI #11s that I have been using on my Pietta 1858,1860 but I have to pinch them to get them to stay on. Also one time I wsa shooting and they kept falling off even though I pinched them. I later found out that on that cylinder I had left to much Balistrol in the outsid of the nipples. Yesterday I was at Bass Pro Shop and I was thinking that I would try a #11 but the brand was Remington. When I got home I tried one on of both types without firing and it seemed like I had a harder time getting the Rem #10 off than the CCI #11 but when I tried to mike the outside dimention of each the Rem was slightly bigger. I had no way of measuring the ID of them and was assuming that the actual thickness of the copper was approx the same. Does anyone know the ID of these? Also I noticed that the Rem #11 was longer than the CCI.

Nominal cap sizes. Courtesy of someone other than me - Never can remember whether it was madcratebuilder, mykeal or Doc Hoy. My apologies to who ever I'm slighting. Ya know what they say about CRS.

This really ought to be stickied. Save some bandwidth.

The rem caps seem to be in reverse order to the CCI ones. The strange thing is that the Rem # 10 fits tighter on the nipple that the CCI # 11. The only thing that I can think of is that it is longer so that It sticks a little more further donw on the nipple where it is wider

Both of my Piettas like the CCI #10 caps. (The CCI #11 caps fall off even when I pinch them.) Trouble is, around here it's hard to find the #10s.

Haven't found any Remingtons.
