Well, the 92F is 9mm, so you are stuck with the 96D (DAO). Good luck finding preban 11-rounders for the 96 series...I've never seen any. If you don't like DAO, try the 96F or 96G (decock only; no safety).
FS (or F) = DA/SA with a safety that also decocks the gun when engaged
D = DAO
G = DA/SA with just a decocker that springs back into "Fire" after you decock the gun.
so you are probably looking for the 96 (they aren't normally called the 96FS, just the 96) that is unless you want the DAO model 96D.
Full-cap mags for the 96 are only 11 rounds so IMHO it's not worth spending the extra money. they are out there but much harder to find than 92FS 15rd full-cap mags.
i've got 96 because i like the ability to put it "on safe"...bty it has the easiest slide-mounted safety, to push off, i've ever used.
don't bother with looking for 11-rounders...awhile back. i bought a buncha used factory mags, np3 coated for LE agency for $12 each...and they each only hold 10-rounds. when i bought the gun, used from a friend, one mag held 11 the other only held 10.
i carry my 96 on duty with four extra mags for a total load of 51 rounds. that should be enough
The only 96 standard cap mags I've ever seen have been for sale with the Centurion 96D pistols turned in my some police departments.
If you want a .40, Beretta and MecGar 10 rounders are available and you're only giving up one round; absolutely not worth the expense of finding an original 11 rounder.
Even 92 standard cap mags are still selling for a reasonable price.
Well it looks like your basic questions have been addresed. With that, I'll point you to their website to browse some pics and stats. http://www.berettausa.com
