Dies for 6.5 cm

I'm getting ready to order or pick up dies for this. Saw reviews on Rcbs that showed problems seating Hornady eld and eldx bullets. Are the Hornady dies ok. Never used one. Acadamy has them local for half midway price.

There are seating stems with the ELD profile. I had some and saw no benefit so I sent them back as they were about $20 for just the stem. I have Hornady dies and like them a lot but for my 6.5 CM I have a set from Redding.

If they are 1/2 price, grab them.

I just, as in today, got my hornady 2 peice die set for 6.5cm, I went to size cases, followed set up instructions to the "T", promptly crushed the shoulder on a case..............reset the die, double checked everything, sloooowly lowered the press until i could feel....the shoulder crush.:mad:
What in the fuzzy monkeys-???

So far, not a fan, think Ill order a separate size die. Seater works fine.

I've got a set of Hornady dies for the 6.5CM, they work fine. I have a number of sets for other cartridges, besides the decap pin being a bit fragile, they all work well.

"...problems seating Hornady eld and eldx bullets..." That sounds like somebody with a dislike for Hornady or maybe 'tipped' bullets to me.
"...I-isn't 6.5cm 65mm?..." It's 6.5mm Creedmoor. There is no metric system in the U.S. No 'shift' keys on key boards either. snicker.

I would get the Lee Deluxe dies. The ones in the yellow box. It has the the full length sizing die. The Collet neck sizing die. The Dead Length seating die. As well as the crimp die. The seating die, and the Collet die are what makes this a great die set. No lube needed for neck sizing, an the seating die only seats. No crimp to worry about. I have never used the crimp dies.

I have the RCBS FL set at the moment, and it works just fine. Though I am going to be ordering the Lee set as soon as I have the funds to do so. I will then sell the RCBS set.

Re post #4 by Chainsaw crushed necks

While unusual with bottleneck cases, it does happen occasionally with jacketed cases. Ran into the same thing with .250 cases recently. Best answer is the Lyman M flaring die. I suppose some inside the neck chamfering would prevent crushing but like me you may be opposed to thinning the case mouths.

If possible would get one of the comp seating dies. Redding is expensive, but believe a foester can be bought without the micrometer seating stem. Then RCBS full length sizing die, although most any common brand should do.

I use a mix set of dies to reload for my 6.5 Creedmoor. Redding body die, Lee collet die and Forester Bench Rest seating die. I have had very good results with case and cartridge runout while using these dies.
