Die Hard Movie Gun Question

Sorry, another movie gun question.

What was the stainless semi that the Alan Rickman (lead euro thug) used to shoot various objects with (including one Jap executive).

It was a chromed or nickelled H&K P7M8. They never made the P7 series in anything but blued carbon steel, so it had to be an aftermarket finish.

It was a P7, probably a P7M8. P7M8s, P7M13s, and P7M10s were available at one time in factory nickel, but no longer. It seems that for the P7M10, there are more factory nickel ones than blued. My P7M10 is in factory nickel.

Yes, the P7 of Hans Gruber. That's the movie that made me want the P7. Unfortunately, my hand sucks and couldn't make good use of an excellent weapon. :(

Hans definitely had a P7 M13. (If you pause the DVD and zoom in, you can see P7 M13 on the grip) When the movie was made, factory nickel was still being produced.

lunde is correct in all he says, including the temporary factory production of nickel plated P7s of several types, though the P7M10 was the only one commonly so found.

On VHS, the gun held by Alan Rickmn in Die Hard appears to be a P7M8, but if gbelleh has DVD and says he can get a clear enough freeze-frame image to read the P7M13 letters on the slide, I am thereby informed.

The P7 is such an unusual gun that there's a database of movies in which it stars!

The official tally so far for
P7 appearances in films is as follows.

Easily recognized examples:

Die Hard
Wanted: Dead or Alive
True Romance
Under Siege
Armageddon
Great Expectations
8 Million Ways To Die
Wild Geese 2
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension
The Bodyguard
Tomorrow Never Dies
The Dead Zone
The Mask
Snatch
Silence of the Lambs
Dogma

Visible only with DVD:

True Lies
End of Days
Eraser

Unconfirmed:
Mercury Rising, Judas Kiss

Honorable mention:
8 Heads In a Dufflebag (P7 appears on dust jacket)

(By reference to the Star Trek fans or "Trekkies" of the '70s, people who are silly enough to pick out P7 appearances in films are referred to as "Heckies". There's several threads on this at the Cult of The P7 forum over at Park Cities Tactical!)

Its definitely the M13. Since the movie was made in '87 or '88, the .40 didn't even exist then, therefore no M10. I remember seeing a scene where it was sitting on a table I believe and you can definitely see the wide magazine floorplate. I had a M8 at the time and my brother had a M13. So I knew what I was looking at beyond a doubt.

I think the movie was made in 1986. It was another plug for the Beretta 92, the new darling of Hollywood since the Army had just adopted it. Same for the Lethal Weapon series, which despite all the anti-gun references in those movies probably did more to sell the 92 to civilians than Uncle Sam.

By the way, don't forget the other unusual handguns in the Die Hard series, the German-made porcelain Glock 7's used by the bad guys at the opening of Episode Two. At least Bruce said they were.
