Didn't we save these pasty-faced losers from National Socialism once ?

Princess Anne Slams 'Selfish' Singles
LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's Princess Anne said on Tuesday the increasing tendency of Britons to live alone to maximize their independence was plain selfish. She was commenting in an interview with the Times newspaper on government figures showing that more than six million people in England now lived on their own three times as many as 40 years ago.
``Life in general nowadays is more and more isolating. Most people would call it independence, but I'm not that sure what that means. It could mean just plain selfish,'' the princess said.
``It could be more convenient just to live all by yourself but it means that you don't understand the impact of your life on other people's lives, and how you depend on other people all the time. It's no good.''

If you're talking about the 1938-45 unpleasantness, they were actually doing a pretty creditable job defending themselves when we stepped in to help. But it didn't matter in the long run, since they wound up embracing National Socialism voluntarily.

It sounds as if the english 'ruling class' is after real power. Its instructive that the dear princess would lament that people are so selfish while she herself lives off of the wealth extorted from its creators.

PHHHHHBBTTT!!!!!

Lemme get this straight--PRINCESS Anne thinks that common Englishmen are being SELFISH! By choosing to live alone!

I can think of one selfish family in Britain--they're among the richest people in the world, and the biggest landowners, and they do it all at the expense of the state, AND they furnish absolutely no useful service in return for all that. AND they have the audacity to bitch and moan about the commoners being "selfish."

Reminds me of Bill Clinton asking the elderly to "learn" to sacrifice for the common good!

Hey, that's a thought--all Britain has to do is cut ONE family from its welfare rolls, and they can finance all kinds of wonderful social programs. Do the royals really still deserve the public dole? They've been on welfare basically since Victoria died, haven't they?

Seems logical to me. Now we have two elitist women, on both sides of the Atlantic, who live in castles, and tell us that 'it takes a village ...'. ;)

What is she suggesting as a remedy? Barracks? Oh, I get it, a commune. But we'll call it a kibutz. It's so much more ... er, European.

Princess Anne is right!
I have been selfish and I am so sorry!
How inconsiderate of me not to follow the example of such compassionate people like the princess and surround myself with needy members of the lower class to serve and care for me. ;)
I'm kind of on a tight budget, but I'm willing to do my part. I also live in a single floor dwelling, so there won't be any of that upstairs-downstairs stuff the brits are so fond of.
I could really use a butler, to lay out my clothes and attend to my other needs, but I suspect my wife is going to want a maid first.
Oh well, once we work out the details, I'm sure we'll all be as happy as can be!

With their history of colonization and now a legacy of a long past empire, the English now contend with living with one another instead of far a way in some exotic land.
