Did your buying priorities just change?

It's not typically wise to make emotional decisions...

but have your buying priorities changed due to the election result?

Some of you have been through the scares before. How do you plan on riding out the next 4 years?

Or should we all just...

That's funny!
Just sitting here watching the news of Mr. Obama being re-elected and my wife turns to me and tells me we have to get another AR and stock up on ammo.

The funny thing is most of the items I’m currently lusting after probably won’t fall under any of the restrictions that have been floated. Also, It still seems logical to believe that the legislature is not going to make any major changes to current laws.

I guess one minor concern might be something along the line of increased fees that might not require legislative approval. As we see more Jurists who are not as 2A friendly these fees/taxes/restrictions might have an easier road.

However, I personally plan to do nothing different and just keep saving my pennies for a nice 1911.

I'm in the keep calm and carry on camp. I have no purchases beyond ammo/reloading supplies and other consumable shooting stuff slated until spring or summer anyway.

I remember the scare and price runaway in 2008. Turned out to be much ado about nothing, really.

This time around, I don't see prices spiking, or even beginning to spike. I suspect it's because a lot of other shooters remember the gouging in 2008, and how it ended up seeming to be for no real reason.

I don't think too many shooters are going to be willing to pay such price increases this time around, and I don't think too many manufacturers, wholesalers, or retailers think they'd get away with it.

That said, I did just order 10 new Magpul mags for my AR.

I have been flurting with the idea of buying a new rifle but I could not decide on semi lever or bolt. I believe semi just got eliminated. Maybe a good 30-30 will be in store or 3 mosin nagants.

Sigcurious,
I'm in that same boat. All the stuff I want seems to be bolt action and involves blued steel and walnut. But, it was kind of cool to have my wife tell me we NEED to buy another gun and an AR of all things.

Nor I... There will be shops and vendors that will raise prices, and there will be people that will be willing to pay those prices.
I know what I buy, I know what prices are... and I know that if any shop or vendor that I use raises their prices, I'll stop doing business with them.

If we all stopped doing business with those who take advantage when the perceived RKBA climate goes a bit sour, then perhaps when they're buried in AR15s and Glocks they can't sell quickly enough, we'll see prices drop well below retail.
It happened with a few large LGS in my area... they were forced to sell the most popular and desirable firearms at 5-10% over cost to keep from going bankrupt.

My priorities haven't changed, I'm not worried. I think we might see a bunch of new or casual shooters making purchases this month.

Neither house changed hands, and the executive office is still occupied by the same person.

I'll leave my priorities similarly unchanged.

I need to stock up 7.62x54 for my dragunov and hope to buy and AK47 and lots of 7.62x39 before that all gets banned.

Nothing has changed!?

Am I missing something, or will there most likely be a new SCOTUS appointment or two in this next term, which will be enough to eventually overturn both Heller & McDonald decisions.

From what limited legal-eeze I know, it would seem that if it does happen the 2A will be gutted and our individual right to own and use a firearm will no longer be protected by the Constitution. What we will be allowed to keep will be very limited, highly regulated, and most certainly subject to a hefty annual tax of some sort (e.g. per gun as has been proposed before). As they said the first go around... elections have consequences and we better hold on tight!

Maybe some legal eagle can chime in and (hopefully) expain where I am wrong, but I'm not sure I'll invest in anything new at this point as I'm not sure I'll even get to keep a lot of what I have now.

The only things I had already planned was a new Ruger American in .243 and some more .22lr ammo.....nothing has changed here.

As a general rule on TFL (with occasional exceptions), those 2nd Amendment discussions on a serious path are held in the L&CR forum.

Please find a discussion underway in that forum or start another there for this discussion.
