"Did Stephen King Invent Janet Reno?"

:King did the paper work and Disney fixed the animation.

I beg to differ, and to present a contrarian view of King's reputation.

Quite frankly, I don't think his stuff is all that scary, except for the government crackdown in The Stand.

I submit that Reno is an invention more in the Lovecraft line... sort of a cross between Herbert West and Asenath Waite.

Coinneach, Weird, scary truth is always more frightening than weird, scary fiction, eh?

H.P. has all of the adjectives to describe her already published.

H.P. Lovecraft, while certainly having a twisted enough imagination to invent Janet Reno, was just too articulate. Reno's too inept at prose construction: I heard her say something about a "safe escapation(!?!?)"

King does understand contemporary American blandness and our addiction to mediocrity, so yes, I think Reno, being the perfect monster-disguised-as-a-human for our contemporary, insipid age, is more of a King creation than Lovecraft.

I think Al Gore invented Janet Reno, just after he invented the internet.

I've had an epiphany anent J Reno's origin.

You other Lovecraft fans remember "The Beast In The Cave," I hope. Think about the last line:

"The beast I had killed was, or had at one time been A MAN!"

Reno ftaghn!

Maybe we'll all get lucky and the evil city on the Potomac will once again sink below the waves...

"That is not dead which can eternal lie"

Sounds like Clinton will live forever... :)
