Did S&W really sell out?

Let's think about this for a second. S&W makes about 25% of their sales to the government at a very low mark-up when compared to the 75% of public sales which goes for a much higher mark-up.

Everyone is saying that Smith & Wesson SOLD OUT but it doesn't appear that they did it for the money because they stand to lose more than they can hope to gain especially since over half the cities that were sueing them are continuing with the lawsuits against them despite this agreement.

It just doesn't add up as to why they would do something like this unless there was some funny business going on at the top that has yet to be reveiled or S&W's parent company made this decision for them.

But WHY did they do it? It couldn't have been for financial gain because I think that they are going to be worse off now (a majority of the lawsuits continue and a loss in sales in their most profittable market) and I can't believe that this is something they didn't realize prior to signing the agreement.

There have been no less than eleven threads concerning the S&W deal in the past three days. This thread is not significantly different than quite a few of those already existing.
