Did not need it, but bought it.

So at my local dealers shop, as usual, in walks a young man wanting to sell a Ruger GP 100 6" blued. Early Model, Dealer bought it, sold it to me at a price I won't post (upsets some members here) way below market value for an early GP100 unfired (less factory) in the case with all the paper work. Still smiling, did I really need another 357 magnum 6" ? Well no but, what a deal. Bad picture but, I'm not a photographer.

Great find! From what I gather from the few dealers around me, dealers hate having used inventory on hand. It's not a problem with used Glocks, etc. so much as it is with brands and models that aren't in high demand such as revolvers and mil-spec 1911s. A lot of times it seems that they will sit in the cabinets for months, taking up room which could be used to sell additional new models. It's a great place to get good deals when the demand around you is low.

Not to mention, the whole "new, but never fired" is really difficult for dealers to convince to customers (although it happens a lot).

I'm sure he wanted to get rid of it for a slight profit ASAP.

Great pickup. I loved the blued Rugers.

If every gun store were good enough to display a neon sign much like a motel's "vacancy" sign letting me know from a distance that they have no used handguns, I would save both of us the annoyance of even walking in to the place.

I cannot imagine a gun store that does not care to have used guns on hand.

I'd rather visit any library or a deli than a gun store with no used guns.

Great pickup, OP, now QUICK! Get that ugly Hogue off that cool revolver!

I'm in the southwest if it makes any difference in a conservative state and that has been my experience.

They love used Glocks, Sigs, Rugers, etc. Just revolvers and things like Walther PPKs - not so much. A lot of people at the stores I go to like to buy new. Silly people. :D

I like that addition, congrats. That was a nice find. As far as used guns go, I bet 95% of the guns I buy are used. I almost never buy a new gun, using the phrase "new to me" works fine :D.

Nice to hear something good has happened to somebody.

And this is VERY nice.

And go ahead and post the price, we can take it! (Unless it's under $350 then I can't take it.)

Good luck.
(Wait, forget that, you've already had your good luck for the day.)

Late Turner's flyer (snail mail) virtually all revolvers are 4" or less and stainless, alloy or part polymer. Only exception is the S&W 929 stainless 6.5" 9mm titanium cyld.

I've had a stainless 4" GP for awhile and it probably goes to the range more than any other gun I have.

I've pondered getting a longer barrel GP and I can't decide if I want the 5" or 6" model.

Hard to imagine anyone here would complain about your good fortune.
Of course you needed this.
That's why you bought it, isn't it?
Enjoy.

Nice Ruger GP100.
I hope you got the original grips with it.

Those are the original Ruger logo Houge grips, I'm thinking about changing them though. Heading for the back range in a couple hours, break it in so to speak. Still smiling.

Back from the range.......I'm really smiling now! Two clicks to the right and, it just chews the center of the target.......back flip in progress....LOL. Great revolver this is, surprised me. :D

I can. I don't post what I paid for a gun either. There is always someone who will come along and tell me I got ripped off and they know where they can get them for half that, and the seller will throw in a pizza to make the deal.

Or, if I got a really good price on it, I'll be accused of taking food from widows and orphans. Never fails. :)

Exactly. Another thing I just noticed about this revolver is how easy it is to change the front sight, what a great idea. Just ordered some HiViz sights for it. That should work well for these eyes of mine. LOL
