Today I found a Ruger Red Label 28 Gauge with 28 inch tubes. It fit me like a glove and is mint. The wood is much better than average, matter of fact its gorgeous. I KNOW Brownings are better as well as Beretta's. My question is since I only bird hunt once or twice in a few years..would this be a good gun for light use? I don't think its been fired. I'm looking at dove, quail, and maybe pheasant. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Oneounce will be along in a minute. The twenty I had served me well. I think the first batch of 28's from Ruger had some issues but most new designs will do that. Ocassonal bird hunting it should work well. Keep us updated on its performance.

Considering Ruger has discontinued the entire Red Label line unless you really overpaid You'll always be able to get what you have in it if you take good care of it. I have an older RL in 20 GA and always wished I got the 28 instead. They're just cooler!!

That was my thought. I take extremely good care of my guns...if I dont like it I can trade in on a Browning..at this price I don't have anything to lose. Man it fits me way too good to pass up plus I like the English stock.
