Did a little trimming on the FV-SR

Well the cheap factory stock was sent over to my neighbors house to be hydro-dipped in a black/white marble pattern to dress it up a little. A month later I had enough of the BS and demanded the stock back. He sheepishly brought it to me, seriously botched....and in the wrong pattern. While spending a night attempting to clean it back up, I got the "idea" to trim a little fat off the fore stock. Now the barrel is truly free floated.

Here it was before the hydo dip massacre:

And as it is now. After adding some fiber glass filler, finish sanding, removing the checkering, replacing it with texture and shooting on some smoke gray base primer:

The rifle is going to end up with a McMillan style GAP camo.

P.s. Oh ya, as you can see I also mounted part of the Hubble Space Telescope to the top of it :D

You do make them "Shine" !!!

Very nice and you know I'll be following this one, taking notes and getting prepared to when I receive mine. .... ;)

What was your prep and what paints work out the best, for you?

Be Safe !!!

I had to do some aggressive sanding after I removed the "meat" with a dremmel and milling bit. After that I just sanded with a med-fine grit wet sanding paper. For the base coat on this one, I used rustolium smoke flat auto primer....but I've been known to shoot on Krylon :o....with good results, If anyone remembers the copperhead inline ML I did, the finish is still going strong.

Once finished with what ever pattern I want. I spray 2-3 coats of shine flattening clear coat of whatever brand can be found...one that says chemical resistant someplace on it.
