Did 1100's go up in value or are these guys crazy?

So I like the older Remington 1100's. Especially the magnum version but I like them all really. Anyway, it seems like 6 months ago I was seeing them from anywhere for $350-500 pretty often. Cheaper if they were in bad shape. Well, in the last few weeks I saw one for $600, a magnum version listed for $900, and today I see a 2 3/4" version listed for $750. Are these guys crazy or did the 1100's go up in value for some reason in the last few months? While I like them I don't think they are near a $900 gun.
 
I don't see many anymore under $500 ...but it depends on condition and whether they have screw in chokes or not. A gun without screw in chokes - with average wear - I still see for about $ 350. With screw in chokes / in above average condition - they are $500 - $600 ....in my area.
 
I picked up an 1187 supermag for 500 bucks last month.. 1100's sometimes have better wood, but they are pretty much the same guns.. 1100's would not interchange 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells originally, so that is where the 1187 came in..

But, you can still get some pretty nice wood packages with the 1100,, and the 1187 is the blue collar shotgun..
 
My son bought a nice 1100 20ga. a couple of yrs. ago for $325 was offered over $500 for it recently by more than one person.
 
Gander Mountain has a sale on 11-87s for $499. That is the lowest I've seen Remington 11-87s go for since they were introduced.

In fact, they have Benelli M2s for $799. I've not known them to be that cheap ever. They are plain jane models but have the same innards as the high dollar guns.

Good point!
And, there are the higher grade 1100s from Remington's custom shop. There are 1100's with extraordinary wood, engravings, gold accents and hand worked internals. My Trap-A grade 1100 goes clickety clack, clunk as it cycles; but, my buddy's Skeet-D grade 1100 is more like swoosh, click and has a very nice trigger pull.
