I'm thinking about grips for my Det Spl

Can I put T-grips on or do I have to have the front and backstrap exposed for that?
what do you think about Eagle Secret Service?
Hogue?
Pachmayr?

What works for yours?

Mine are in need too. I am thinking about Eagle myself. I really want some cherry wood with mahagony satin poly checkered grips. They contrast nicely against the Colt blue.

My first Detective Special had the grips like the ones in your picture. The newer model I have now has the thin rubber ones from Colt.
I like the newer style for CCW carry but would like some nice wood too.
Hopefully someone here will show some pics of a boot style grip made of nice wood. I hate the look of rubber ones on blued guns myself.

Eagle got back to me rather quckly. Their Secret Service grips are available for Colt Pythons, Detectives/Diamondbacks and Cobra frames. Smooth boot-styles are $59.95. Ebony is a $20.00 upcharge. Checkering is a $20.00 upcharge. Polymer faux ivory is $69.95. Buffalo horn is $125.00. They are nice grips. Eagle offers American Elk too for $99.95. Mother of Pearl is available also. $99.95 for small and $155.00 for larger grips. They even have a Ultra imitation ivory or mother of pearl for $85.00. 1-800-323-6144 or www.eaglegrips.com

T-grip

You must have the front strap exposed for a T-grip, I think they look great on older style blued guns like yours. There's a guy with some for sale on gun broker right now.

To use the T-grip adapter you are going to need some service stocks which are the stock panels that covers the side of the grip frame leaving the front and backstrap exposed.
