“Made in America and Priced Right” “Load on Sunday and Shoot All Week Long” Motto’s of the Henry Repeating Arms Company describes my Henry lever action. This model is the H001 version which is the standard basic model 22 lever action with an 18inch tapered barrel and magazine tube capable of holding 15 22LR cartridges. When standing at the counter two years ago while purchasing this rifle there was two things I noticed right away. First the plastic front sight was a little to wide to fit exactly in the groove of the rear buckhorn sight, this is not a big deal as they are easily replaced. The second attention grabber was the receiver, I noticed it was made of Zamac which is zinc alloyed with aluminum, magnesium, and copper. It can’t be blued like steel, so Henry painted it to match the blued barrel. Though I gave thought right away to durability my mind was put at ease right away by the research I had done previously. Henry has a lifetime warranty, Mr. Imperato has been known to respond to emails directly and in prompt fashion. 100% made in America I can’t go wrong not to mention the many years of fun to be had and the beauty of such a historic piece.

Yeah, you right; I have two Henrys, a standard lever and a youth carbine because I shoot every day at home. Never had a problem with either of them.
 
I will add one thing. My Henry has been absurdly fun, but don't ever drop a 'dud' round back into the tube for a restrike. It jams up the action something fierce.:eek:
 
I have an old JC Higgins which is another family hand down but it is a weird one. It is great shape and shoots well especially for its age almost looks new but it is an odd duck. When you the pull the trigger everything operates normally to todays's spec but meaning the bolt cycles back but the bolt will not cycle forward on the next round until you release the trigger from having fired previously.

Shoots well though.

I have been shooting more 22 lately than anything else and absolutely having a blast.

I am thinking about a 22 rifle and know there are many choices possible. The Henry caught my eye a while back and since I am a lefty, it appealed to me. I really appreciated the time you took to put your report together and the glowing results you have. It will be my next purchase.
 
i have the little short barrel large loop 22 lever. it is amazingly accurate. i can shoot small targets at long ranges with iron sights and my eyes are'nt as young as they used to be. my little henry might be my most fun gun to shoot. i want to add the blued 22 mag to my collection as soon as i can as well.

That's a Savage 87 series. You can also lock the bolt in the closed position and use it as a bolt action and gain a few FPS.

I understood the caution against aggressive solvents on page 10 of the owners manual for it's brass covered brother, but never for the "steel" version until now.

Yours must be completly different than mine. My cover is ZAMAK, my receiver is ZAMAK, the bolt however is steel. I have no problem with the cover and receiver being ZAMAK, it works, and works very well. Very good, popular, and highly thought of arm.
