Detachable scope mounts??

Does anyone have any experience with a Leupold Detachable scope mounting system? I seems like a good option but i dont know whether to believe their guarantee that the scope keeps its zero every time. Also, For mounting a Leupole VX-II 3-9x40 (or any scope for that matter) which base is better, a one-piece or a two-piece??

If you're referring to the QRW or Mark 4 rings, both work well and return to zero after removing and re-attaching. This has been my personal experience.
I prefer a one-piece base because, generally, it will contribute some stiffness to the receiver.

jerpoh,
It really depend on the gun, in some long action Winchesters and Remingtons 700 a long base is attached only by 3 screws, while individual bases are with two screws each.

The Quick removable Weaver type of the Leupold is one of the best if not the best.
It also allows you to have an extra scope in rings already sighted in your back pack just in case of breakage of the one in your rifle.

I cheated and for my Rem 700 LTR, I went with Leupold QD on a two piece base. Not the stuff any sniper would want to be caught with, but I it was a compromise I was willing to accept.

One piece bases do increase stiffness but can stress the receiver if the receiver isn't to blue print spec. And y,es, this happens to factory guns like Remington. Two piece bases won't stress the receiver but aren't as stiff and if there is any stress, it's on the scope (because the receiver isn't allowing the scope to align and sit in the rings without stress). The world is full of compromise and so it's up to you.
