Desert Eagle .50 Range Report

WOW!!! Talk about muzzle flash and recoil. What a great thing. I only shot at 20 feet, but all 20 half inch holes were in the black. Lots of people say "What do you want one of those for", but I couldn't stop laughing every time that thing boomed!

How much do those things weigh?I've always wanted one for concealed carry :) How bout recoil ,is it manageable?

The weight of a .50 A.E. Desert Eagle is a whopping 66.5 oz unloaded. Yes that is correct, you read it right.... over four pounds before you load it. LOL. Think I will stich to my AR10 for concealed carry. :D

I rented one at the range a couple of weeks ago.
Wow that 50 AE ammo expensive!(especially at "special "range prices)
The grip had all the ergonomics of a 2X4.
The recoil was really stout.
The spent cases all hit me square in the forehead HARD.
At 25ft, the muzzle blast would blow the target to a horizontal position.
Everybody shoot shoot one once. ONCE!
:D

The nastiest gunshot wound I have seen in my LE career was a point blank center of chest shot with a DE .50. The handle end of a D-cell Maglite would go inside the entry hole and a 6" saucer would have barely covered the exit hole in his back. Talk about being outgunned, he had allegedly pulled a derringer on the guy that blasted him with the .50.

Got in a foot chase one night and lost the guy. When I came back out of the woods I looked in his car and there was a DE .50 magazine fully loaded. I almost sh*t in my pants at the thought of him possibly having that dadgum thing with him while I was chasing him around in the woods, in the dark. Coincidentally it was the same guy that later shot the person referred to in the first paragraph of this post! Guess it wasn't my turn to go... Needless to say, I am not as quick to follow someone into the woods as I once was. :D

Rainbow Six: If he had had the DE with him while in the woods, you would have run into him. :D

Hey Rainbow Six,

Just a quick hats off to you LE guys who literally put your a$$ on the line for citizens like me (and my family). I have tremendous respect.

I think about what my job requires me to do (set up networks, etc) and how it doesn't even compare to your kind of stressful environment.

That quick little story you told there goes blows any of my mountianeering or backbacking adventures completly out of the water! - And believe me, I've had some hard core wilderness adventures!

Kharn and brouhaha,

I think you may be right!(edit~ On the other hand, he probably could have carried a Barrett .50 bolt action rifle and still outran my slow a**!!):D

t-man,

Thanks for the kind words. LE definitely has it's share of red line pucker factor moments! :)
