Derringer recommendations? (357/38)

I purchased an American Derringer in .38Spl for use in CAS side events, but sold it a couple of years ago. I found the sights were completely useless, and the barrels would hit in wildly different locations. Kept getting beat by a friend with an old single shot .22 short. Also, the barrels are covered by lawyer-inspired warnings which I never could warm up to.

Bond seems to be going for the cowboy market- their guns have a much better appearance than American, but I don't know if the sights are any better, or if they shoot more consistently to point of aim. Any one out there with personal experience with Bond?

Yea dont. get a good 38 with more than 2 rounds.

Recoil can be a bit much for most people not used to it. I have a light Charter arms 44 sp thats kicks much less than an American der in 357.
Personaly derringers are only good for a vest pockes while playing cards, usless.

I agree with all of the above. Given a choice between a .357 Magnum derringer with 2 shots and a .25 auto, I might have a problem deciding. But IMHO, considering the track record of derringers in general and the ones I have tried (as in tried to fire) in particular, I would recommend forgetting about derrigers.

I don't understand the question to be " are derringers state of the art for personal defense?" They are what they are...and for CAS side events, or just for the pleasure of shooting something that heralds back 150 years or so, they can be kinda cool. Hopefully Bond is putting a bit of effort into accuracy for those of us to like to compete with them...
