I just bought a cobra 22. magnum derringer. I read in the manual that you should always keep it HALF COCKED saftey on. I like to keep it hammer down all the way no safety. It would seem to me that would be less presure on the mechanisim. ANYHELPPLEASE

The Cobra is based on the Davis Derringer design. It does not have a rebounding hammer. If the hammer is down, it is resting on one of the two the firing pins, which is resting against the primer. In this condition, if you drop the gun on the hammer, or possibly the muzzle, it will go off. Do the half-cock thing. I think they also have that cross-block safety like the Davis did.

Don't carry hammer down Few years back a friend shot herself fell out of her purse landed butt down and she was hit when went off. Best thing is leave empty unless shooting I would never carry one.
