Denzel Washington

Denzel Washington was visiting Brook Army Medical Center, in San Antonio, Texas the other day. This is where soldiers that have been evacuated from Germany come to be hospitalized in the States, especially burn victims.

They have buildings there called Fisher Houses. The Fisher House is a hotel that soldiers' families can stay at, for little or no charge, while their soldier is staying in the hospital. BAMC has quite a few of these houses on base, but as you can imagine, they are almost filled to the brim most of the time. While Denzel Washington was visiting BAMC, they gave him a tour of one of the Fisher Houses. He asked how much one of them would cost to build. He got his checkbook out and wrote a check out for the full amount right there on the spot. The soldiers overseas were amazed to hear this story and want to get the word out to the American public, because it warmed their hearts to hear it. I hope you will spread this story.

Denzel Washington has a son who is a Marine in Iraq.

According to Snopes.com, this is a TRUE story. Except for the part about his son being a Marine. Link is here:

Almost true but more than generous regardless:
although he did not, as described above, "get out his checkbook" on the spot and write a check for the full amount needed to construct a new building — made a substantial contribution to the charity. Between Mr. Washington's generous donation and other contributions collected over the holidays, the Foundation now has the funds necessary to build another house

I still like your version better.

I thought that Denzel Washington was an anti. Now mind you, I don't keep up on anti gun celebs but I thought I heard somewhere that he was such a person.

Don't get me wrong, the military families need this kind of thing because I have met such families while in the military and was thankful that the government did at least do this for them.

And, honestly, Denzel Washington is very sexy :D.

Perhaps he is an anti. Would that make the story any different, or just make you hate him despite the story?

NICE! Thersa, Hillary and Martha could each pull out their checkbooks. If they do, I will register Democrat, move to Chicago and sell my firearms. LOL

Does anyone know what the actual story was with Denzel Washington visiting the ladies daytime show "The View?" I heard that he went off on one of the hosts because she made a snide remark about Republicans and Christians. It was in an email that floated around for a while. Apparently, he is both. Of course, it was in an email so who knows about its validity.

I applaud Mr. Washington. No matter his views on guns, he gave generously to a VERY DESERVING charity. Denzel Washington is in my top 10 actors whom I will see the movie just because he's in it. He is really that good an actor. Same with Gene Hackman, Samuel L Jackson, and anything directed by Clint Eastwood (although his acting has been questionable at times, his directing is incredible).

As a matter of fact, most of the music I like is sang by antis or at least ultra liberals (excepting most Country). I cannot reconcile with the Dixie Chix though. Being Anti or liberal is your business, being anti- US is ours. Heck Ted Nugent is as great a guy politically as you could want, but I just don't like his music at all (although he does write interesting books).

Good Job Denzel. These people deserve and have earned all the respect and support that can be mustered. They've done their jobs and we should be willing to do that minimal part that is ours.

what i would like to know is WHY he went on that gabfest to begin with? the collective IQ of those women MIGHT reach triple digits.

If I remember right, It was TODAY, instead of THE VIEW. He was on with Meryl Streep plugging THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE remake. When Katie Couric made an anti-war comment, he horrified both women by stating he was a Republican and Christian and supported Pres. Bush. Something to that effect, anyway.

 I thought I had responded to Handy after he had replied to the post... yet it's not there  (If my reply was deleted for cause, please at least use the PM or the email functions in which to say so).

As I had replied before:

Handy, I didn't say that I hated anyone, just thought that I had heard from somewhere that he was an anti. I could very well be wrong. I was just making an observation of what I had heard, nothing more, nothing less.

I think what he did was great, more people that are able should give to those who aren't in this type of matter. I greatly respect him for doing so and my thanks to him is beyond measure.

Being human and with access to the great amount of information that comes with having a computer and internet access, I post my remarks on the board to either be proven true, or in most cases, not. I depend on the knowledge of others to set me on the right path and to get the story straight.

For that, I am greatful and I hold each and every one of you in the highest esteem.

And I did say that I found him sexy, you can't say that I hate someone when you are attracted to them :D.

Rich,

My bad. I come on during the time that I am at work and when things come up, I may have to get out of what I am writing, responding to and get to work (hey, when I asked for a job, I didn't expect that they wanted me to work :D ).

So it may have been one of those times when I had the response window open and responding, got side tracked on another issue, and then just shut down all windows at the end of the day.

On Topic, I still think that Denzel is sexy :D. And, if I may, God Bless him for what he has done. While in the military, the Widows areas and the housing for Widows of fallen soldiers have always been something that I totally believe in and I give as much as I can but wish I could give more.
