Don't forget that Dennis Miller is anti-gun.

Pass it on.

True; but considering how Libertarian the rest of his ideas lean he has to be reachable on this.

My guess is that he is just ignorant of the facts - combine that with a little emotion and fear from someone who has never been around one and that is all it takes for most people.

Mindset - he is about 80% of the way to being pro-self-defense already. Too bad we can't sit down with him and discuss it. I think this particular anti is flippable and would make a good convert.

Miller is a liberal SOB. I won't be watching MNF if he is on, no matter how funny he is.
Miller a libertarian? Not.

The one with the most alcohol, drugs and maked women, of course. The All-Night party.

Hmmm, I have seen the guy twice state on his own HBO show (and not as part of a joke) that in his personal opinion, the Clintons are a tremendous disgrace to the country and should be removed from the White House. He has also stated he dislikes Gore because of his ties with Clinton during discussions with his guests.

From his past commentary, I know he supported Perot in 1992 and McCain during the past primary season...

If this guy is a liberal, then he has sure got me fooled. I think you guys are mistaking his jokes (after all, he is a comedian and entertainer - not a political commentator) for his politics.

Whenever I hear this anal orifice he makes me sick. He is typical of the basic liberal that loves to whine about everything but does nothing that constructively helps. His views about religion and patriotism are offensive so if you listen to him because you think he's funny you may want to re-think where you stand on American issues.

He's a whining child that probably got beat up alot in school.

BartholomewRoberts, Thanks for the info. I never cared for Miller even when he was a regular on SNL. All I know is he's another gun control Nazi. After seeing him do his little sermon on the Second Amendment after watching the movie Falling Down he made sick, he also showed me that he is very ignorant. It would seem to me that an entertainer would keep his/her politics as discreet as possible so they wouldn't lose any fans. The same goes for businesses losing customers for political reasons.

Just because Miller rags on Clinton doesn't mean he is not a liberal. I know plenty of liberals who dislike Clinton.

I used to like Miller, until I noticed he took so many cheap shots at Republicans. There is no question: he's a liberal SOB.

*I* am probably a liberal SOB in your view - because I do think Miller is funny (and I don't see any need to rethink my views as an American either). And you know what? I think that is great - because we aren't going to secure our Second Amendment rights without being a large, diverse group with many opinions.

However, I think we are all in agreement with the idea that civil rights are for everyone and that the Second is just as important as the rest.

Miller is definitely anti-gun; but the majority of his points have dealt with limiting government power - not expanding it. That is certainly not a view consistent with liberal beliefs (and neither is support of Perot or McCain).

I think the guy is just ignorant. I also think that too often we make the mistake of seeing someone who is just ignorant as an enemy. The ignorant can be educated; but once you have made an enemy out of someone, they aren't going to listen to what you say no matter how powerful it is.

HE says he's libertarian. I don't think anyone else does. Same with Phil Maher who is very anti-gun.

giving up Monday Night Football because you might hear somebody say something you disagree with, That's UnAmerican!

Dennis Miller is a very witty, funny, professional jack-ass, which obviously pays well. I laugh at his good jokes, but wouldn't put too much stock in what he Really thinks, he is afterall, just another yammering head in the idiot-box

If I knew in advance that Miller would not say something I'd disagree with, I still would not watch. Maybe I'm too hard line, but I also wouldn't watch a movie with Rosie the anti either.

I have no reason to think/call anyone on this forum a "liberal SOB". In fact, I think Miller is the only one I've ever called that!
Here's my issue: Miller is an obvious anti-gun SOB liberal who's been given a nationwide television platform to occasionally spout his views.

Enough already...but remember, a vote for Perot was a vote for Clinton.

You don't have to listen to him there is a volume controll on most TV's and a simo-cast on CBS Sports Radio, Hank Stram is doing it I think.

Back when The Cosell was inflicting himself on Mundane Nite Feetsball, I'd often turn the volume to a no-cosell db level, and listen to Hank Stram on the simul-cast. :) (I guess that's radio-talk for simultaneous-broadcast.)

If this guy does his job halfway properly, I could care less about his politics, religion, color, personal sanitation, diet, whatever.

:), Art

This is in the FWIW department since I hardly look to any comedian for my political guidance (or guidance of any kind). I look to them strictly for yuks.

Dennis Miller is on live on CNN right now and has made some statements that belie his liberal title. He sounded much more independant than liberal.

On GWB's speech: "I thought he did a terrific job." "It wasn't great, but no speech is great. He came off as human." "The ... line was a stroke of genius." [I forgot which line he said.]

On Pres. Bush: [paraphrasing]"I really like and admire his [GWB's] dad and wonder how my comments about his son hit him. You've got to realize I'm just a comedian and what I say is just for laughs."

I have no idea what his politics are but hearing him call the sponsors blimp the "Hindenbud" had me and the wife rolling on the floor!
