I just received a mailer from the DNC - (Democratische Kommitee)asking for a donation since, "...for the first time in 40 years, control of the White House and Congress are within reach." BTW- the postage mark indicated the DNC enjoys tax-free status.

In a questionaire type vote on the bottom, #3 asks for common sense gun laws to keep dangerous firearms out of hands of criminals and felons. On NPR, I just heard that NYC and Rudi are sueing everybody (inc. S&W). Most likely to strong arm the NRA to drop the restaurant.

I am now thouroughly convinced that the NRA needs to drop the restaurant and feel good ads on OLN on 5:30 am Sunday mornings and start televising primetime advertisements on the fact that these common sense laws exist.

We collectively need to stop bitching and boycotting and proactively address all of the negative press that is hitting us these days. I am sure that something else will come and remove the spot light from the second ammendment, but while the GOP is arguing like fools over what we can do to make the christians happy, and the democrats complaining about NAFTA (their pres enacted it) and ecology, we are losing the sight of our goal, preserving the Constitution.

This is not a GOP vs Dem issue. This is us vs them. We need to start recruiting more of them. Each one of us has been converted or has converted someone. The NRA and GOA need to help us through positive, non-corny advertisements.

Enough of pointing out the obvious, I assume that many are NRA a/o GOA members, I would like to start having those bi-weekly pleas for cash start going more for advertising. Politicking, I feel, will be more effective when more people oppose less common sense gun rights (as well as the 9 others).

What are the feelings on the issue?
 
I know that more down to earth ads will open my wallet a lot more . Name names , give true statistics , show what a "child" killed looks like and what they were doing when it happened . These bleeding hearts tell stories that would equal feeling sorry for the fans in L.A. last night when they ran out of stuff to burn .
Show the truth on prime time not some small audience channel where they already know the truth . Stop preaching to the chior and show the rest of the people that we want gun safety more than anything . We can rival the election ads if we want to . Show gangbangers that were shot trying to kill each other . Ask America if they want this scum disarmed or them . Send EVERY NRA member all the stats so we can combat this BS on a local and PERSONAL level . If I speak to an anti I want good intel to lay on them . Stuff that can be verified by anyone . We have one thing on our side that they do not . THE TRUTH !!!

I would LOVE to see something better than Heston doing his "Mr President, your a Liar" bit. How about this. Young single mother telling the camera about her rapist that died suddenly of a .357 brain hemerage. The 75 year old man telling about his intruder that suddenly experianced personal liquid loss at the sight of a 12 gauge. Let's "humanize the issue. Who's the NRA? Grandma, Mom your sister. Who does Clinton want to take the Guns away from? Your Grandmother, who lives in a house in the bad part of town, but she's been there since '45 and she dosen't want to move. Mr Clinton wants to Kill my GRANDMOTHER FOR VOTES!!! :mad:

Meiji_man, that is like Bill Murray on "Scrooged!" The Night Before XMAS ads with mushroom clouds and a bloody fuzzy bunny in the street.

Mr. Clinton's war against drugs is about as effective as his war on guns. In twenty years, the Capone's to the Crypts will have networks all over the country supplying guns to BG's like the Kennedy's ran booze for the Massachusetts wealthy.

I love Heston's "You're a liar," bit. It needs to be played during Monday Night Football.

Nestor, nope. For a long time we have split the vote. By congress you need to cout reps and senate, and no party has had both + Prez for quite a while.

In 1993 and 1994, the Speaker of the House was Tom Foley and the Senate Majority Leader was George Mitchell. Both of these men are Democrats.

The Democrats controlled the House from 1955 to 1995. I am quite certain that the Dems. controlled the Senate during Carters term, the GOP took the Senate during the Reagan landslide of 1980 and then lost it later.

I also believe that the Dems. controlled both during the Johnson and Kennedy years as well, but have been unable to find any sources giving this info.

But then again, I must be mistaken. After all, we all know that the DNC wouldn't lie to us! Right?
