In order to protect our members and TFL from possible litigation, all members must abide by the following new rules:

    1. Copying and pasting entire articles from another site to TFL is strictly prohibited. The same applies to articles from print or other media, and to posting photographs taken of copyrighted pages or other media.

    2. Copyright law provides for “fair use” of portions of a copyrighted work. You can copy no more than a SINGLE paragraph from the article to your post (3 or 4 sentences at most).

    3. You must provide a link to the article along with the name of website. For example: ww.xxx.yyy/zzz (The Lower Thumbsuck Daily News).

    4. You must provide, in your own words, a brief summary of the article AND your reasons for believing it will be of interest to TFL members. Failure to do so may result in the thread being closed or your post being deleted as a “cut and paste drive by.”

    5. Photographs and other images are also copyrighted. "Hotlinking" of images (so that it appears in your message) from other sites is also prohibited unless you own rights to the image. If you wish to share an image, provide a clickable link to it.

Posts that do not follow these new guidelines will be altered or deleted by staff. Members who continue to violate this policy may lose their posting privileges at TFL.

Thank you for your cooperation and your participation in TFL, the leading online forum for firearms enthusiasts.

Delete the Handguns - General Forum

I understand the theory behind splitting the handgun forum. I think, though, that it will work much better if there are two instead of three forums. The general forum seems to overlap the other two. By limiting it to two forums, you encourage the creation of a community in each of the two. If members have to switch between two different forums, then the feeling of community tends to be lost.

Just my two cent.

Done, upon answers to the following questions:

Where do you discuss single shots?
Where do you discuss carry modes (not carry alternatives)?
Where do you do the traditional .45 vs .357 caliber debates?
Rich

And one more, where do you discuss a new ammo type such as, say, the Federal Expanding FMJs that are available in .38Spl+P and 9mm at basically the same ballistics?

Some issues don't break down into slidegun and spinner.

Jim

If any one of the three forums should remain, it is the General forum. That is where most of the threads properly belong.

-For all-
There have been several posts along the general line of "I don't like the split". Come on guys 'n gals, a couple of days is hardly a good test of the splitting concept. No one said the change has to be permanent, but surely we can give it a fair trial. And a few days is not a fair trial in my book. It will take some getting used to for all of us. In theory, it should make posting on and searching for your favorite topic a little easier. However, only the cooperation of the members can help make that theory into a usable practice.

Rich/Mal,

3 days or 3 weeks, I don't much care, as it proved itself to me the first day.

I LIKE the new arrangement, and very much want to see it stick with us.

Yeah, yeah, I know... If I like it, it's the kiss of death, blah blah blah... :)

Careful, Dennis.

It would be VERY tough for you to explain to the ER Doc just how you came to have a cereal bowl "lodged" there... :)
