What is best degreaser for preping for Aluma-Hyde II?
Needs to be something available in hardware store locally.
Will sand with 120 as instructed by Brownell tech.
Working on old friend's heirloom 22 ex-wife left in storage shed, he just wants his Dad's rifle shootable. And my "house" shotgun, 20ga single barrell.
Thanx for any advice.

TCE brake cleaner works very well as a degreaser / paint prep . If you can find a way to get your things bead blasted , the results will be much better . You just can't reach everywhere with sand paper , bead blasting makes everything uniform in texture !

I use Brownell's TCE degreaser before I apply Duracoat. I've used it on a number of items that I've sprayed and it works really well. I've got an industrial degreaser called Heptane that I am going to use as well. It'll pull the grease off of ANYTHING!
