Defense Question

I have heard that in the state of Indiana if you use a gun in self defense that the police will confiscate it and you will most likely not see it again. Is this true? If so it would make me apprehensive about carrying a $700+ H&K P30 or using my Sig556 for home defense. Can anyone shed some light on this?

In most places that weapon is evidence until the investigation is complete. Whether you'll "ever see it again".... In my state ( NY ), any weapon deemed a nuisance weapon...weapons used in a crime, for instance... can be destroyed. Whether your jurisdiction has a similar law and whether your weapon would be deemed a "nuisance weapon"...seems like there are too many variables to give you a one-size-fits-all answer, regardless of jurisdiction.

I have to ask: How much is your life worth?

I mean, I'd personally want to use the best weapon available to defend myself. Gotta be alive to mourn it's loss.
