Defense Ammo for Para-Ordinance?

Hey everyone,

I just got a Para-Ordinance P14 and was wondering if any Para-Ordinance owners could tell me what self-defense ammo functions well in this weapon (or what to avoid). Thanks!

p.s. I *do* know that it *always* chokes on Speer 200gr hollowpoints, but works fine on 230gr Blazer FMJ...neither of which ought to be surprising, come to think of it :-)

Yay, another guys found "Para-Dise" !
Congrats CB. :)
Typically a Para should feed everything you put throught it, but they tend to favour a cartridge with a long overall length.
Ask the fanatics( ;)) on my board !

I have a SS P14-45 and I alternate ever other round with Remington Golden Sabers and Cor-Bon's. I fired magazines loaded this way at the range and they work accurately and without any jams. Also, recoil from bullet to bullet seemed about the same.

There are two different schools with regard to what type of bullet is best for self defense and both sides present very convincing arguements to support their point of view. Since I never actual shot anyone (although, while working in the private sector, I did have to hold someone at gun point on two seperate occasions waiting for the police to arrive), I do not have any personal experience in this area and I try to follow a little bit of advice from both sides since I'm not sure which side is correct.

The 230 gr. Federal Hydra-Shok has a large following (including me). It feeds reliably and consistently through most guns, including my P-13.

Best advice, though, spend the money to test several loads and see what works reliably and shoots comfortably for you.

Good luck,

SA Scott
