Hello all,
Here in California deer season opens this saturday! I'm excited, but there's one problem. Today the temperature was 104. I know to hunt early and late near water holes. Any other warm weather advice? This is my first deer hunt and I decided to bring my Winchester 94 in .44 mag for the brush hunting and my .300 Weatherby for the rolling hills, see previous post. Thanks again.

Gut it pronto! If you can do it, quarter it and put the meat immediately in an ice chest. With high temperatures, you don't want to be gloating too long and taking your good ole time!

Best of luck to ya and let us know how you do! Early muzzleloader season doesn't open here in Pennsylvania until October. Rifles, pistols, shotguns, etc doesn't open until December.

If, by law, you can't cut and pack it, buy a big block of ice and skin and wrap in a tarp with the ice......I've found the water doesn't make a big difference. Just COOL it quick and keep it cool.
Good luck.
Dan
