Deep Rising movie gun question.

I didn't know where else to put this. So here goes. The rifles they used in Deep rising, are they for real? They look like galco, or calco rifles. The magazine looks the same. Very short rotating barrels though. The ejection area looks too small to be for a rifle round like it claimed, but rather the 22, or 9mm version. Just saw the movie is why I am asking. Anyone know?

The guns are supposed to be the latest Chinese assault rifles: 9mm, electrically operated, thousand round mags, something like 3000 rpm. Total bullcrap, of course. Physically impossible. The props were actually Calico .22 carbines with attachments.

The funny thing is that the shell caseings seem to be .308 or 30/06. The only real problem I even see is that they have rotating barrels. now correct me if I am wrong but it take a good bit of power to move 4 barrels at that speed. Where is all that power coming from?

In real life, it would have to be motorized, battery powered, like the real mini-guns. Not even the gatling guns of the old west were turned by the recoil. I thought about using the recoil to move it, but it isn't feesible. you would want the most time from shot fired to fired again, and you could only use the top for loading, and the bottom for extraction. Even if you made the very next chamber from loading the firing chamber, you would be slowed by the action cycling to cock the action, and move the barrels. I figure you can do it, like the revolvers they showed on the history of the gun, where the cylinders are zig zag patterned, so that the recoil would force the spin. But I don't think you could get the speed. I am guessing at best maybe 1000 rds per. Even if you shortened the gas return. But maybe that is good enough.
