Decocking a CZ 75B Compact -- All the way?

When I manually decock my 75B, it seems like I have two options. I can pull the trigger, holding the hammer with my off hand, and then release the trigger (which seems safest)...but that only lets me decock to the half-cock notch. If I want to decock all the way, which I assume I do, it seems like I have to keep the trigger depressed.

Is one way preferable?

The CZ decocker models only go to half cock. Lots of other guns like Sigs decock to half cock as well. It lets you have a shorter trigger reach and pull that`s still "safe". I use the half cock notch when carrying my CZ and Witness 10mm all the time. Marcus

BAD VOODOO......If you rely on the half cock seration on the sear/hammer, it will wear over time. The gun is not made to rest on it...it is a safety catch/notch. It is not substantial enough for a permanent type rest for carry or storage.

The decocker/PCR has the same setup hammer stop as the cz83, which has a MUCH tougher sear than the 75b. Making the drop to the half cock and carry in this position a safe thing to do.

On non decocking CZ's, it is designed as a "secondary" type safety only. In case you are manually cocking the hammer and slip. I have heard of a few cases when the safety notch was used as a carry position and due to wear, lost its ability to catch the hammer. You have to replace the parts to restore the gun or hope a smith can fix it.

According to CZ the proper way to carry any "NON D" gun is cocked and locked or hammer down. Use the safety/hammer stop as a safety as it isnt built for anything else.

Shoot well
