I have a chance to swap my blue 5 1/2in. Ruger Vaquero 44 mag. on a S+W M29-3, 6 inch. The 29 is really cherry. 98++. The shop wants $400 for it cash.Question? Is a 29 more comfortable to shoot with factory 44 mags.then the Ruger.I have to admit I shoot 44 specials and downloaded mags out of it.What do you think would be a good deal? Yes,I can live with the Ruger but I'm a swapper. The 29 is calling.Help.

Let me...

...expand on Mike Irwin's point to say that if they're offering anywhere near an even trade, I'd swap in a heartbeat. They're cranking out Vaqueros every day of the week, so you can always get another one; the blued N-frame is pretty much a catch-as-catch-can thing these days, however...

I just got my first blue S&W and I love it, a mod13 w/ 3" barrel and round butt. If I had a Ruger that I colud trade fairly even up for a 29 I would jump on it in a sec. I am thinking about selling my SS and getting blue

WESHOOT2,

I dunno, I could make a pretty good case for the Vaquero being the Glock of the single action revolver world; rugged, a little "cookie cutter"-ish & lacking in soul compared to its more pedigreed competition, and three feet deep on every gun store shelf across the nation... ;)

please waste no more time reading. The sooner you complete the trade the sooner you can be shooting it.

The shop was open tonight and I think Tamara put me over the top.Vaqauro's are all over the place.Good revolver but I have a 3 screw .41 mag.Blackhawk.Better sights and smoother. No swap here. The M29 cost me $75.00.Factory date inside grips June 14 1985. Heh,nobody told me if a 29 was easier to handle with factory 44 mags than the Vaquaro.

I find my 629 easer to handle with full loads than my vaquero

but my bisley vaquero beats them both! and the Super Redhawk makes shooting 44 magnums fun!
Good trade. 29's are getting hard to come by, Vaquero's are a dime a dozen avaiablity wise anyway.

So you gave up your Vaquero and $75 to get the S&W?

Still a damned good trade.

That puts the tare value of the Vaquero at $325, which is WAY high for a used Vaquero.

I'd put the used price at closer to $225, retail.

Yeah, you did really good.
