CA Only please!

I thought I was sold on the Speingfield EMP, but it was stiff and tight , too much for my girly hands!

I've not used or handled one but have handled many Kimber's . Some Kimbers are pretty stiff to rack . A stiffer spring can help felt recoil . The reason is the stiffer spring stops the slide from slamming back against the stop . The harder and faster the slide hits and stops the more muzzle flip you will get . A stiff spring can slow that slide down .

Watch this video and you can see when the slide moves all the way back and hits/stops . Thats when you get even more felt recoil .

I have found how one racks a slide can effect how hard it is to rack . Man up girly man or should I say BUTCH up and rack that thing :D

Is there supposed to be a question or topic to be discussed hidden in there? Something specific to California?

I can't think of one other then there are very few hand guns we can have here . The EMP compact is allowed here till 1-20-16

OP : if you want to talk to CA people only . A better forum would be calguns http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/index.php

She was back at 12:34 this morning so I think we can assume she checked her thread for responses. Apparently she doesn't care to provide more clarity as to what she's asking, or why a question about handguns that are sold in every state should be restricted to responses from California.

If that's what was meant by "CA Only please!"

I also have no idea what this debate is supposed to be about, or why it's "CA only". The fact that the OP has signed in since you guys posted but hasn't bothered to clarify her thread topic is a little annoying.

I see this one being closed pretty soon if she doesn't bother to elaborate.

Debate

To the OP....a proper debate begins with a clear statement...called a resolution. Once stated, the participants either agree with the resolution or disagree with it.
A possible resolution derived from your statement is
"Resolved: The Springfield EMP is unsuitable for small hands."
There are, of course, other possibilities.
The resolution must be stated in such a way that it can be debated---people can agree or disagree with it. Your original statement was about your experience with the gun. Stated the way it was, a person could not disagree with it. It was too much for your girly hands. No one could properly say "no, it wasn't."

Well let's not scare her off. We're a friendly group that goes the extra mile to help a new shooter. Hopefully she will check in soon and add more information to fill out her question.

There are plenty of good handguns though some are easier to operate than others. We can help point those out once we know more about what she wants.

She tends to not post much, and replies little.

I think she is looking for options for carry that are smaller than her current pistol.

She has opened another thread recently.

I'm not sure what this is about either. It's been some years, but I recall handling a Springfield EMP around the time it first came out, and I don't recall it being especially tight or stiff.

Certainly the slide was properly fitted to the frame so that there was minimal play, but that didn't seem to effect the effort needed to rack the slide. And shorter barrel pistols do in general have stronger recoil springs than similar pistols with longer barrels.

And this doesn't appear to me to be a topic for debate.

Point of debate?

Where's the question that's being debated?

Whether or not you have girly hands?

Not really a point of debate for TFL.

If you can better frame you comments/questions to the point where there is actually something to discuss, then by all means, post again.

If not, please don't.

In any event, this thread is rather pointless at this point, so I'm closing it.
