I am saddened today at the loss of my beloved Norinco 1911A1. It failed to go into battery after a round yesterday, and I could not get it to open afterwards. I cautiously worked for 2 hours today hoping for a broken case jamming the action or some other bit of silliness. Alas my old friend with nearly 238,000 rounds since new fired through it, (yes all you Glock Lovers I said 238,000 through a 1911), had suffered a fatal fracture in the frame. I paid $169.00 for it new a decade ago. It went through some springs and a firing pin, I replaced a shot-out barrel and was about to do the same again. This truely for what was supposed to be a cut-rate gun, lived a long and prosperous life, Although I know it is beyond repair, I am already planning a small glass topped case for it, and to keep it as a momento. I must now begin to decide on its replacement. It will be some time but I think I'll go for either a Sig or try and find one of those Para-Ordnance P-16 40's. Oh well, time to crack open another Guiness and wallow.
p.s. for any cronny home invasion types who would be stupid enough to hang out here, the Mossberg 500 is still loaded under the bed. Don't even think about it
