Death by a thousand cuts to the Million Mom March

Call them at 888-989-6667. Toll free. You pay nothing, they pay for every call. Bleed away a little of their funding. Death by a thousand cuts. Flash/redial, flash/redial, flash/redial, repeat . . . . .

Keep yer stick on the ice.

Does anyone know how these toll free things work? Is it a flat rate for each connection, or are they charged for total call time?

It's just like your long distance calls. Per min. A cheaper volume rate but never the less it ties their lines and annoys them.

"Grass roots," my skinny butt. How many grass roots orgs are hugely funded at a national & state level?

Thanks for the # ... it's fun to call all the various options & quite funny listening in Spanish. I do have to keep up with my foreign laguages. ;)

Make no mistake. We are at war for our rights & all's fair, as they say. Besides, it's legal.

Info went out to 100+ on my e-mail chain addresses just now.

If you choose the option to leave them a message you can just play the radio for them, I left a 5 min message (I hope they like the Rolling Stones) :D

I remember back in 1993 or so that there was a campaign to do the same thing to the "Death Clock's" 800 number. At first you could call as many times as you wanted; then there was a limit of three calls from each phone number; and finally they cut off the areas my friends and I were calling from (Southern Kalifornia and Arizona). I don't know if they did the same elsewhere.

Looks like I'll be making some more calls.

I could imagine an easier way...wherein the caller uses his computer, modem, and a piece of software called a "war dialer". They can be programmed to call a variety of numbers, or just one. (n.b. this sort of dialing may be illegal in your locality. It behooves you to familiarize yourself with local telco ordinances!)

It's the initial "connect" minute of calls which cost the most, so to increase the cost most dramatically, you need more calls, not longer calls! :-) Your computer could be calling all day long!!

Personally. I like to stay way from numbers containing "666". Call me old fashioned. I had 666 in a telephone number once and recieved the weirdest wrong number phone calls ever. I once called Compaq tech support for a computer problem and was told that the problem was not my computer, it was my telephone number, "...mark of the Beast, you know. There's your problem."

Are you sure it's legal? I may be off, but it sounds like harrasment(sp).

Or have we as a group sunk so low as to resort to prank phone calls.

I for one outgrew PFC's somewhere around the age of 10.

Fight 'em yes, but why give them reason to believe that we need our "Mommies" to keep us in line!

I for one ain't going to sit in a cell over prank phone calls.

Sheese!

WATTS, or toll free, calls are charged per minute. Most WATTS lines are up to $0.40 per minute. All WATTS lines have ANAC functions which grab your phone number before the phone even rings. They get a detailed report of each and every person who calls.

Multiple calls to the same phone number, WATTS or residential, are considered harassment. Look in the front of your phone book...it's outlined right there. You're not helping...in extreme cases, they will bring in the authorities.
