Db question

ok, i'm told that the average .45 caliber suppressor rates at 40 Db.

my question is what is the Db for a unsuppressed .45 auto firing a 230 grn. FMJ going between 750 and 820 fps?
 
The overall SPL is about 163 unsuppressed. 40db is a little optimistic. The Evo-45 claims 35db wet but the numbers don't really tell the whole story. The greater advantage of a real world silencer is it changes the sound signature so it's not immediately recognizable as a gunshot. With my Gemtech Blackside .45 silencer shooting is easily mistaken as someone hammering a nail which doesn't attract attention like the crack of a bullet. Even someone in just the next room would just wonder what the hell I was beating on (and may in fact come investigate) but they likely would not call 911 right away.
