Day dreaming... 10mm GP100

Yeah, I'm nuts. I like the 10mm almost as much as I like a .45 bore.
The only decent 10mm wheel guns are the crazy expensive Smiths.

I got to wondering about the GP in 10mm. It sounds like a lot of fun. Taking a quick look at the, the cylinder isn't quite big enough but it gets the mind wondering.

Whaddya think?

Dave Clements will convert a GP-100 to 10mm for $650.

Probably more than you want to pay but it shows that the cylinder IS big enough. (Except the Clapp and Target Champion with heavy bevel.).

Yes he will, I had him do one for me.

Neat idea, though there are enough revolver cartridges that meet and exceed the 10mm. It would be one thing if the 10mm would give you an extra round in the cylinder, but since it doesn't I see no reason not to just use a .44 or .45.

I like how it feels and how smooth it is as far as the action goes but I have to admit I havent been out to shoot it yet. :o I know I know, but I have been so busy work/home/kids, I havent had any time to go out a enjoy it yet. I will get out soon and put some rounds through it soon though. I did it because I already have 9mm & 45acp revolvers and got tired of chasing my 10mm brass from my 10mm's. I also am still below the cost of what a pre lock 4" S&W 610 would cost.

how long did it take to do the conversion, from sending the gun in???

I've been contemplating this for a while myself... I'd already have one, but my retired machinist buddy doesn't like to work on double action revolvers... I have a S&W 610, that I rechambered to 10mm Magnum, that I love, but it is a 6" barrel... coupled with the fact that I have many 357 revolvers, & the 4" stainless GP, was my 1st handgun, I'm not in a hurry to part with it... I could see chambering it to 10mm...

but then lately I've been thinking about a 375 revolver cartridge using 30-30 cases as the base case...

I have a Ruger 10mm revolver....it's called a Buckeye. Change the cylinder to 38-40 and it's like having two completely different pistols in one.
