Dating my browning A-5

I am trying to come up with a date and possibly a value for my browning A-5. I have attempted to use their website, but that only confused me more. The left side of the barrel says * Special steel 16 gauge-shells 2 3/4' 1kg 011. The right side says Made in Belgium. The bottom of the receiver says R 4070. Any information you could give me would be very helpful.

Thanks!

You have a Standard Weight A5 made in 1954. The Standard Verision is vs. the Sweet 16 version. The condition of the gun is going to determine the bluebook value. If you have an 80% condition gun, then you are looking at about $300.00.

Thank you very much for the info. Out of curiosity, how did you come up with the year. On the browning website, it looks as if the 1954 uses H for standard and L for light.

I am referring to S.P. Fjestad's 32nd Edition "Blue Book of Gun Values", pg. 2311. It show the STD 16 serial number R3100 - R20800 as a 1954 year date. The Sweet 16 is referred to in my reference with the S prefix to the serial number.
