I am looking close at a bond arms darringer eather in .410/.45 , or something alot smaller.Does anyone out there have one and is the .410/.45 to much to handle or just alot to handle, i have heard alot of oppinions but not from anyone who has one. Next does anyone have a bond pistol at all if i decide the .410 is too much recoil i am still thinking about a 9mm in same said gun any advice.

I have the Bond "Snake Slayer" in 45Lc and .410 guage, and neither round is really that bad. It's not something you spend all day shooting, but to put 10-15 rounds through it and then hand it to a friend to try it's alot of fun.

I'm sure there are alot "hotter" rounds out there then what I was using that might sting a little, but that's half the fun of a big bore derringer!

There is a good reason most off duty carry is with a SW J frame and hardly ever with a derringer.
The derringer weighs way too much, is slow to action, only 2 shots, not very accurate. Get a SW hammerless J frame. Nothing comes close

What skeeter said.

When may brain begins to boil from all the discussion about small semi autos that need fluffing and buffing ,lifetime warrantys,or that are very particular because of what era manufacturing they were made in,my mind reverts to the tried and true lightweight concealed hammer dao Smith and all is well again.

Five shots GUARANTEED.

I have a Bond Snake Slayer 410/45C. I also got a the .22 and 45ACP barrel. No I don't carry it as stated pretty heavy but a neat little gun. A used Taurus snubbie can be had for under $200 and better for carry.

I had one in 9mm, sold it ... they're fun toys, but weigh a ton for only two rounds, hammer is heavy to cock, accuracy is not its strong suit ... got one because it looked like fun and I thought it would be a neat little carry gun ... it's not ... get a j-frame or an LCP or Kahr ... don't trust your life to a derringer ...

Derringer - fun, but no thanks

I have one, but it only comes out for s**ts & giggles at the range. The NAA mini at least holds 5 rounds, as does the Smith .38 snubby. The derringer is interesting, but fairly useless. It's no more accurate than the NAA, and nowhere close to as accurate as the Smith M60. That Smith snubby never ceases to amaze me just how accurate a little gun can be. It shoots every bit as well as my Beretta 92F.

I love derringers, but you guys are right. A good carry gun they do not make! But, as long as you buy it knowing that going in, that shouldn't be a problem.

Me personally, they are way too cool, and I want them all!

I've got a decent little carry piece- Colt New Agent .45 ACP. Thing is, I'd sort of like a derringer just as a compliment to my collection of Old West style guns. And I don't think the Bond qualifies. It's huge!

I've been wondering about some other brand. Something that would go bang and not blow my hand off. The original Remingtons, well, .41 Rimfire is hard to come by these days. I've seen some by a company called Cobra, but the ones I saw were in odd anodized colors.

Anybody make one in more somber hues and more original styling? Just as a toy, more or less, you understand.

American derringer, Cobra and Davis industries come to mind. I've seen some neat looking ones from Leinad on Gunbroker.com

I will admit that I have a Davis derringer in .22 mag. I like to play with it on occasion, but......there is no way I would carry it for self-defense, or even as a back-up.I bought it on an impulse, and I like the looks, but it's not dependable as far as going bang when I pull the trigger.Helps with flinching tho:)

I also have the Snake Slayer. I don't know where anyone could say not to trust your life on it. Because with the 410 each round has 5 lead balls which are bound to hit something. They are a blast to shoot and a great conversation peice. Go with the Bond Arms, they are worth the money.

Derringers IMHO are much easier to conceal than revolvers. Even if they print, it's shape does not scream GUN like a revolver does.

Yes you only have two shots, that's why you use something big like a 45 and practice to be proficient enough with it to make them count.

A Derringer in your hand is worlds better than the revolver you left at home because it printed too badly/didn't fit in the clothing you were wearing.

Some people want "the best". Others look for "good enough". Each mindset has it's advantages and disadvantages.

I am carrying my Bond. 45 right now.

Its a lot easier to carry than my five shot wheelgun and I really doubt if after I blow a huge hole in the first mugger the other one or two are gonna want to stand around and fight it out.
Its a lot more compact than a J frame and in fact, I can even stow mine in a camera case and carry in plane sight...
