A good friend of mine is thinking of getting a Taurus PT111. It's a 9mm double action only pistol. I'd like to ask the pros out there if this is a good gun. More importantly is DAO a good idea. My friend's 6", 225 lbs. and intends to carry the pistol either on his ankle or in a concealable holster.
Many thanks in advance.

I dont have one - but there was a time when I was going to get one.
PROS:
Not much bigger than a PPK/S - packs full house 9MM. Deep Concealable. Reliable.
CONS:
Nasty trigger. Usefull only in its entended ranges - Close proximity to the target - 0 to 15 yards. (MAX)

DAO is a good idea if the weapon is a
Para ordenance LDA; out side of that most
DAO triggers are tough to shoot although
simpler to operate. If your friend has the
upper body strength to control it, He should
do well. DAO triggers take a bit more time
to get used to. But they give some good results when mastered. I have trained the
DAO and DA/SA variants together and while
the DA/SA have to learn to decock the learning rates are simular.
